Pink Eye (conjunctivitas)

Pink eyes real name is conjuntivitis. It is the inflamation of the conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is a thin membrane that covers all the white of your eyes. This membrane produces a mucus to lubricate the eye, when it becomes irrated the blood vessels become inlarged. This is when the eye becomes red in colour. There are many types of pink eye like: allergic, bacterial, viral, chemical, neonatal. Your eye will become very sore, and can affect your sight in the effected eye for some cases.

Causes
Pink eye is mostly caused by bacterial infections, irritants, and allergies. If the person's pink eye is caused by a bacterial infection it will be contagious. The signs are the eye becoming red, irritation, and a discharge coming out of it. Your eyes will also be watering. The common cold can also cause pink eye.

Treatment
This infection can be treated with antibiotics, or eye drops. Pink eye usually will just clear up on its own. 65% of the time pink eye will clear up within 2-3 days on its own. Eye drops or antibiotics are only needed if the infection hasn't cleared up within 3 days.
